Dominguez and Morgan announce candidacy
Wednesday, February 20, 2008
Speaker of the Undergraduate Student Senate Carla Dominguez (right) and Student Government Association Attorney General Sarah Morgan (left) announced their candidacy for SGA president and student trustee tonight.
Dominguez made the announcement during the weekly meeting of the student senate earlier this evening in the basement of the campus center.
Afterwards, senators lined up to sign Dominguez's and Morgan's nomination papers, putting them that much closer to taking key positions in the make up of next year's SGA.
Due to SGA election bylaws restricting campaigning until after the nomination period has ended, Dominguez couldn't say which position she hoped to hold in the fall of 2009, but said she was more interested in serving as Trustee while Morgan had her eye on the presidency.
Ruth Thompson is the current student trustee and Aaron Buford is president. Both will serve until the end of the semester.
