University calls on RSU to pull flyers down
Wednesday, February 20, 2008
The University released a statement this afternoon calling for the removal of the brochures on display out in the front window of the Radical Student Union.
According University spokesman Ed Blaguszewski, after reviewing the details of the issue the University administration has concluded that the brochures in question should no longer be posted in the window of a public place.
"It's innapropriate for placement in [the Student Union]," he said. "It displays graphically a human sexual act."
"Many people may find it offensive," he said.
While members of the Radical Student Union have pledged to keep the flyers displayed in the window of their office on the second floor of the Student Union, Blaguszewski said he expected the material to be taken down as soon as possible.
The announcement of the University's decision did not deter UMass Republican Club President Brad DeFlumeri's plans to hold a "Rally for Public Decency" today in front of the Student Union at noon.
He did call the decision a victory for his club.

Brad DeFlumeri makes me more uncomfortable than any brochure on safe-sex ever could, does that mean we can have him removed too? I would call that a victory.
